Thoughts: Woot! Made it to day 100. Another decent run after a false start. After 2 seconds RunKeeper announced that I had run 3.01 miles, so I had to restart my run. I believe I am closing in on the halfway point of my training, I'm thinking that this Sunday with be the end of week 15 out of 30 weeks. That's pretty exciting.

Thoughts: Another mild winter morning and decent run. My weekly miles are getting up there and so far my knees are taking it. I'm starting to feel like this is possible, even though I'm still below the dreaded 20 miles per week (where my knees have given out in the past). The plan is to register for the marathon in March before the price increases as I will have been running 20+ miles per week for a good month by then.

Thoughts: A good run. The sun was shining and the roads were nearly completely clear of ice. For a change I listened to an audiobook during the run. I think I will be okay running the marathon without a distraction, but I can only run the limited miles on the island so many times without starting to lose my mind. Listening to something is a good distraction from that and music is too likely to influence my pace.

Thoughts: A decent morning and a decent run. To be truthful, I was thinking about code I was working on at work and the entire run flew by. I was surprised my pace was as slow as it was after the first mile, because I felt good, but I picked up my pace and ended with a decent one. My left knee was a little twingey.

Thoughts: An almost warm and mostly foggy morning made for a decent run. Luckily there was a bunch of rain the night before so the roads were mostly clear of snow and ice. The only exception was the dirt roads which for some reason are never sanded and are always hazardous. I nearly wasted my right ankle when turning on to my dirt road near the end of the run.

Thoughts: Nasty roads and nasty weather did not make for a great pace. I felt all around good but the combination of STABILicers and an inch of compacted snow/slush on the roads slowed me down. I'm just glad that I'm up to 15-16 miles a week and my knees aren't complaining.

Thoughts: The perfect storm for a slow pace; long distance, icy roads, snow, STABILicers and temperature in the teens. I felt good so I thought I could do these 7 miles at a 10 minute pace, but I was mistaken. As it was, I picked up my pace at mile 5 and again in the last quarter mile to make sure my pace wasn't any higher than 11 minutes. A milestone, I broke 1 day total time in training.

Thoughts: Once again I felt pretty damn good during my run. Typically Tuesday has been my best day and I'm still a little sore from the Monday/Tuesday combo on Thursday. But, today my legs felt rested. I'm still fighting a cold which slowed me a little around the start of mile 3 and it was about 10 degrees out.

I'm registering for Irish Road Rover 5K today. It's on the day that I'm supposed to compete in a half marathon, but the only one available in the area on that weekend is a snowshoe marathon in Vermont. I'm not planning on hurting myself by running in showshoes two months before my marathon. I'll probably run a few laps of Back Bay after the race to get in somewhere close to 13.1 miles (at least 3.1 of those will be during a race).

Thoughts: Again I felt real good this morning. It must be because I'm finally doing well watching what I eat and my weight is real close to the 200lb mark. It was snowing which made the roads real slick and slowed my pace.

Thoughts: Despite still being sick I felt pretty good this morning. I kept a very good pace and my legs felt quick and light. I think it was from running with STABILicers on Saturday and not today. Unfortunately RunKeeper freaked out and put my start in the middle of Casco Bay which randomly added 3/4 of a mile to my distance. So I could only rely on it for time.

Thoughts: This was the first of my long runs. It was also my first run this winter while wearing STABILicers. On top of that I was also sick. Considering all of that I am pretty pleased with my pace. After reading in an Outside Magazine article about stretching before workouts I've changed up my pre-run routine to be more dynamic than static stretching. I was not sore the following day, which is not to say that it helped, but it didn't hurt.

Thoughts: I was a little disappointed that I wasn't running in snow this morning, as strange as that must sound. Yesterday I felt amazing, but this morning I woke up a little stiff from yesterday's workout.

Thoughts: I forgot to mention yesterday that this is week one of Novice 1 training. I should be doing the final week Spring Training, but I extended Novice 1 by one week in order to have four weeks between my 20 mile run and the day of the marathon. The miles will start ramping up now, let's hope that my knees can withstand it. This morning's run went well. I felt real good, but my pace was slower than I thought it was going to be. I have to keep reminding myself that the pace doesn't matter. I need worry about running consistently and getting the miles in, even if they are slow.

Thoughts: Very cold morning. My legs were still sore from my kettlebell workout on Friday, more so then they were on Saturday. My pace was real slow, hopefully tomorrow will be better. Funny story. I double knotted my right shoe so for once it would not come untied during my run. Instead my pants came untied and started falling down. You just can't win.

Thoughts: First run of the new year. I'm still in holiday condition so my pace was fairly slow and my legs didn't feel great, but I'm not missing any runs. Things are about to pick up. This is the last week of "Spring Training," so the miles will be increasing fairly rapidly. I just hit 100 total miles of training, so that's pretty cool. I think there are some 430 miles in "Novice 1."
